But Why Tho? - William Tucker - Nov 20, 2024 - 10/10

Katabasis #1 is an action-led biblical tale. Juniper is one of the best new characters of the year. Her design is incredible, and her backstory is fascinating. Every aspect around the mercenary is enthralling and exciting. It isn't necessarily a religious comic; the three realms are merely playgrounds for creators. The fight scenes are frantic and phenomenal, with entirely unpredictable outcomes. The issue has the air of a video game, and the characters and dialogue often reflect that. Read Full Review

DAMIEN BECTON is an Filipino/African-American writer (and Assistant Principal) from South Carolina. He has written for Mad Cave Studios (Tales From Nottingham #5), Blackbox Comics (Katabasis) and crowdfunded several creator-owned comics like Choppin’ Blades, Worlds Away and Try Not to Die. Damien was born in Sumter, SC and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate. In 2021, he won the Mad Cave Studios Talent Search as a writer. When he’s not writing and creating, he’s a sixth grade administrator at a middle school in Charlotte, NC.
